Aruba

I guess you could say that after 4 trips to Aruba, we LOVE "the desert island of the Caribbean"!!  The weather is dry, a lil windy, with lot's of sun.  Rent a Jeep (for off-road) for the day and explore the 70 square mile island and all that it has to offer. You can't get lost!  Aruba is famous for its Divi Divi trees formed by the constant trade winds and their most picturesque tourist attraction, the Natural Bridge, coral carved out from the thundering waves of the Atlantic northeast coast.

Divi Divi Trees are formed by the constant trade winds            Natural Wonder Bridge formed by the pounding seas

The soft white sand beaches, (which DOES NOT get hot like other sand) and clear smooth seas on the southwest coast offer plenty of water sports. Jet skiing, snorkeling, Scuba Diving, SNUBA, parasailing.
Wind surfing has made the islands breezes famous.

                                        Arubas crystal clear, calm waters

Tierra del Sol, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is unique in that it's "a desert course with an oceanview". Tee-times can be made up to a year in advance if staying at one of the major resorts.

With over 10 casinos on the island, one open 23 hours, chances are your sure to get lucky during your stay! Las Vegas style shows at the hotels and nightclubs feature international entertainers.

Accommodations range from intimate Low Rise properties to High Rise resorts that offer numerous amenities.  We have stayed at several properties on our trips to Aruba. The Aruba Sonesta Resort at Seaport Village was very convenient to shopping, casinos, and nightlife that downtown Oranjestad has to offer. The spacious room with limited balcony (about the width of a man's shoe) overlooked the pool and main road, L.G. Smith Boulevard.
Located on Palm Beach, the Wyndham Aruba offers guests on-property shopping, casino, nightly entertainment, 3 restaurants and an expansive pool area.
The all-inclusive Tamarijn Aruba Beach resort is another resort that we have stayed at.  This is a low rise property, so be sure to request a second floor balcony room.  Here you can watch the sunset off from your balcony. Upgrade to the MEGA package where you can use the sister resort next door, the Divi Aruba for optional dining and leisure activities.

We have many favorite restaurants that we return to each time we visit Aruba.
The Italian restaurant Don Carlos, is located on the wharf where you can sit and watch the boats bring in the fresh catch of the day. Huge lobsters with reasonable prices were that days catch. For good Chilean wines and fresh catch, make reservations at the Driftwood.  Affordable, it is a local favorite so it fills quickly. You will also get a better menu selection by eating early as the fresh catch sells quickly.
